It's not anymore Sisterakas. The record as the Philippines' all-time highest grossing film is now held by Girl Boy Bakla Tomboy starring Vice Ganda portraying four characters with different sexual orientations.
The achievement was announced during a thanksgiving party attended by box office director Wenn Deramas, ABS-CBN executives including President Charo Santos-Concio, Star Cinema head Malou Santos, and June Rufino of Viva Films which co-produced the movie.
According to Star Cinema, Girl Boy Bakla Tomboy, an entry to the 2013 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) made history on Thursday as the highest grossing Philippine film of all time. The movie has earned P427 million since opening on Christmas Day.
Girl Boy Bakla Tomboy, which was hailed MMFF 2013 2nd Best Picture, may not be the festival's top grosser but in the days leading up to the closing, organizers reported that the movie ruled daily grosses. The two-week festival closed with Vice Ganda's movie just P450,000 short of the gross earnings of top grosser My Little Bossings. [Click here for the MMFF 2013 Final Gross tally]
My Little Bossings, starring Vic Sotto, Kris Aquino, Bimby Aquino Yap and Ryzza Mae Dizon, has also crossed the P400-million mark, making it the second highest-grossing film in history. Sisterakas, which also stars Vice Ganda and Kris Aquino, as well as Ai Ai Delas Alas, now settles in third place.
