Ella Cruz, Francis Magundayao, Khalil Ramos, Jane Oineza, Liza Soberano on 'Singing Bee' this Week

Filipinos definitely want their daily dose of ‘vitamin bee’ brought to them by “The Singing Bee,” as the hit musical game show has consistently ruled its timeslot and beat its rival program in the ratings game since it started airing on weekday mornings.

Viewers nationwide warmly welcomed “The Singing Bee” as the show hit an average national TV rating  of 14.8% in its pilot week (Feb 24 to 28), or nine points higher than GMA’s “Tunay Na Buhay” with only 5.6%, based on data from Kantar Media. It also debuted strongly last February 24, recording a national TV rating of 15.8%, or almost triple that of “Tunay Na Buhay’s” 5.7%.

The country’s new morning habit continues this week with Kapamilya stars Jason Abalos, Ejay Falcon, Empress Schuck, and Liza Soberano trying out their luck on the show this Monday (Mar 10).

News personalities Anthony Taberna, Doris Bigornia, Winnie Cordero, and Bernadette Sembrano will take a break from reporting hard news and will set off the fun on Tuesday (Mar 11).

They will be followed by favorite teen stars Jane Oineza, Khalil Ramos, Francis Magundayao, and Ella Cruz on Wednesday (Mar 12), while Beauty Gonzales, Cai Cortez, Joross Gamboa, and Edgar Allan Guzman join the fun on Thursday (Mar 13).

Who among the four groups will emerge as daily winners and return on Friday (Mar 14) for a chance to win the coveted P1 million jackpot prize?

Check out the making of Star Cinema's upcoming Valentine movie Starting Over Again starring Piolo Pascual and Toni Gonzaga. The movie is directed by no less than the Olivia Lamasan in celebration of Star Cinema's 20th anniversary.

In Starting Over Again, Piolo will portray Marco, a college professor-turned-chef who fell in love with his student Ginny, played by Toni. When Ginny left, Marco found a new love in Patty, played by Iza Calzado. 


Also starring Joross Gamboa, Edgar Allan Guzman, Cai Cortez, Beauty Gonzales, Bryan Santos and Ryan Yllana, Starting Over Again opens in theaters this February 12. Watch the making of the movie below.

Popstar Sarah Geronimo is all set to treat TV viewers with a grand talent showcase in “Sarah G. Live” this Sunday (December 2) as she goes on a ‘champion of champions’ showdown with ‘ASAP Pinoy Champs’ Yeng Constantino and KZ Tandingan.

25th Aliw Awards 2012 Winners: Sarah Geronimo, Jed Madela, Iza Calzado, KZ Tandingan and More!

25th Aliw Awards 2012 WinnersThe 25th Aliw Awards (2012) was held at the Fiest Pavilion of Manila Hotel Monday night, November 26. 

Sarah Geronimo bagged the Best Female Major Concert award for her 24/SG concert at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, while Jed Madela won the male counterpart for his Beyond Expectations concert at the Cultural Center of the Philippines. Aiza Seguerra was hailed as Best Actress in a Featured Role for Rock of Ages.

Eugene Domingo and Edgar Allan Guzman were hailed as Best Actress and Actor, respectively for a non-musical theater act. Iza Calzado was bestowed the Best Female Emcee award while KZ Tandingan was awarded the Best New Artist trophy, beating YouTube sensation, Zendee Rose Tenerefe.

Kantar Media (September 21-23) TV Ratings: MMK Regains Top Spot

Kantar Media (September 21-23) TV Ratings: MMK Regains Top Spot Maalaala Mo Kaya had regained its reign on Saturday nights after weeks of being beaten by Xyriel Manabat's Wansapanataym. The said episode featured Edgar Allan Guzman playing a role of closet gay in an all boys school.

Meanwhile, Rated K was still the most watched program on Sundays. Here are the top 10 daytime an dprimetime programs nationwide (urban+ rural Philippines) for the period of September 21 to 23 according to Kantar Media/TNS:

Mr. Pogi 2012 Winner is John Edric Ulang!

Eat Bulaga's Mr. Pogi 2012 grand finals happened September 15 and it was John Edric Ulang who grabbed the title of Mr. Pogi. The eventual Mr. Pogi winner, John Edric Ulang, bested 15 other handsome young men who vied for the title.

John Edric Ulang, 21, from Binagonan, Rizal now joined the ranks of Jericho Rosales (1996), Danilo Barrios (1998) and Edgar Allan Guzman (2006) who held the title of Eat Bulaga's Mr. Pogi.

A pre-judging was held last Thursday and Friday to which a Top 9 was picked from the 16 grand finalists. It was supposed to be just 7 finalists but two pairs tied for the spot. The Top 9 showcased their talents (singing or dancing) and acting skills together with the UP Repertory Comapny and Eat Bulaga Dabarkads.

Madaling Araw Mahabang Gabi Stars Angelica Panganiban, Glaiza de Castro, Kean Cipriano, Rocco Nacino

Watch out for a new breed of indie movie entitled Madaling Araw Mahabang Gabi topbilled by Angelica Panganiban and Glaiza de Castro together with some of the hottest names in music and film.

From the makers of internationally-acclaimed film Ploning, this film is written and directed by Dante Nico Garcia under Panoramanila Pictures.

Madaling Araw Mahabang Gabi is about the entangled stories of a group of young people who happen to be in a bar in Puerto Princessa, Palawan on the eve of All Souls' Day. As midnight approaches, we become complicit as each of them takes the challenge of the Pangangaluluwa, a seemingly innocent Palawan tradition of honoring the dead by stealing something from the living. A young guitarist battles with crabs; an Indian guy gets caught in a crossfire; a hot cougar meets her match; Cosplayers battle for road supremacy; a religious woman finds true faith in a strange kiss; and a bartender prepares a drink that results in the most bitter of brews. The movie holds up a mirror to this dark night and bear witness to the inevitable consequences that mark the choices of the young.

Real-life married couple Christopher de Leon and Sandy Andolong topbill a heavy family drama episode of “Maalaala Mo Kaya” this Saturday (March 3). They portray the roles of husband and wife Toto and Josephine who did everything provide for their family.



Fate challenges Josephine’s strength as a wife and a mother as the lives of her children go astray. While Toto wanted to let go of their responsibilities to their children who failed them, Josephine remained the ‘light’ of their family and a champion mother who gave her unconditional love to all her kids.

Together with Sandy and Christopher in the episode are Lauren Young, Edgar Allan Guzman, Jairus Aquino, Maggie dela Riva, Bettina Carlos, Randolf Stametelaky, Fred Payawan, and Devon Seron. It was researched by Akeem Jordan del Rosario, written by Arah Jell Badayos, and directed by Dado Lumibao.
