Posted on March 12, 2014 | 10:06 PM

Comedian Vice Ganda is confident that his conscience is clear regarding the alleged vote-buying in the recently concluded PMPC Star Awards for Movies. The issue was broken by Jobert Sucaldito, saying that Vice's Best Actor win was paid (read story here).

Vice Ganda Slams Jobert Sucaldito, Denies Paying for Best Actor Trophy

Speaking on It's Showtime Wednesday, Vice Ganda said that he's aware of the controversy hounding PMPC but just ignored it since he knew for himself that he didn't pay for the award (WATCH VIDEO HERE).

"Nung nabasa ko natawa lang ako, tapos tumahimik ako. Sabi ko ‘Kung kakausapin ko ang konsensya ko, ano kayang sasabihin ng konsensya ko sa akin?’ Sabi ng konsensya ko sa akin, ‘Kung nandaya ka, ibalik mo ang award. Kung hindi ka nandaya, yakapin mo ang award,’” Vice Ganda said before hugging his trophy.

On Tuesday, Philippine Movie Press Club, Inc. (PMPC), organizers of the Star Awards for Movies, already denied the said allegations (read PMPC's official statement here).

Vice Ganda has just returned from his highly successful “I-Vice Ganda Mo Ako sa Amerika” tour. The tour’s first show was held at the John Logan High School Pavilion last February 28 where Vice entertained the audience with special guests, heartthrob Ejay Falcon and comedy duo MC and Lassy.

The tour’s second show at the Los Angeles Theatre on March 1 also drew a huge turnout that Vice extended the show to three hours. The tour was presented by Happy Box, in cooperation with Redcheese Production, iOhmie Entertainment, and BG Productions.

This March, as the cool weather quickly turns into sweltering heat, the upcoming summer season gets even hotter with the release of Metro Society’s annual men’s issue.

The magazine this month turns the temperature up by turning the spotlight on men found making waves in the kitchen. With the local food industry having gained popularity in the last decade, the Philippines has become an international culinary destination and these men have played a crucial role in transforming not only the country’s views, but tastes as well.

Metro Society March 2014 Issue

Meg Imperial Topbills Sexiest Summer Teleserye Moon of Desire

Meg Imperial’s time to take the spotlight has come. And this summer, she takes the lead in ABS-CBN’s sexiest and most desirable afternoon series “Moon of Desire,” which premieres on March 31 in Kapamilya Gold.

JC de Vera and Meg Imperial on Moon of Desire

“It still hasn’t sunk in yet. I’m excited, and at the same time nervous because this is a first, and I have no idea how viewers will receive the show or my performance,” explained Meg. “I thank ABS-CBN for this chance and for entrusting me with this show.”

When asked how ready she is for her big break, Meg said she is confident that she can take on the challenge.

“I think I am ready and even if I am not, I just have to be ready. I believe that everything happens at the right time, and it’s not as if I was randomly chosen. I prepared and waited for this moment just like everybody else,” said Meg.

Joining Meg to further heat up this new offering are equally hot and gorgeous Kapamilya male stars JC De Vera, Dominic Roque, and model-turned-actor Miko Raval. Who does Meg think is the most desirable among the three?

“For me, it’s JC. Physically, I think his skin color and physique suitS his personality. I also know him better than Dom and Miko. He’s a really good actor.” she said.

Meg started appearing on television at age ten. Even as a child, Meg knew that she wanted to be in the show business, and didn’t mind taking on bit roles as long as she found herself in front of the camera.

The 21-year-old actress got her big break on the big screen in 2013 when she starred in the sexy flick “Menor De Edad.” It was a tough call for her to go daring in the said movie, but it opened doors for her because soon she began receiving offers for TV projects.

As a Kapamilya, Meg appeared in “Be Careful with My Heart,” “ASAP,” “It’s Showtime” and two “MMK” episodes before finally playing the role of Gina in “Galema: Anak ni Zuma.”

She again ventured into the movie scene via the film adaptation of Bob Ong’s book “ABNKKBSNPLAko?!” which earned her praises for her portrayal of Portia, the lesbian friend of lead star Jericho Rosales.

Watch out for Meg as she plays the role of Ayla in afternoon TV’s most desirable series “Moon of Desire” premiering on March 31 in ABS-CBN’s Kapamilya Gold. For more updates, like the show’s official Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/MoonofDesire.

ABS-CBN’s top-rating afternoon drama series, “Galema: Anak ni Zuma” will give an action-packed and highly emotional finale that will make viewers love Galema (played by Andi Eigemann) even more.

Galema: Anak ni Zuma Airs Finale on March 28

Since it premiered on September 30, 2013, “Galema” has gotten TV viewers hooked on the charming tale of the good-hearted lass Galema, who was born with twin snakes attached to her neck.

Over the past six months, afternoon viewers joined Galema’s bitter-sweet journey–from her sheltered childhood to her battle with her beastly father Zuma (Derick Hubalde), her marriage with Morgan (Matteo Guidicelli), and up to now that her daughter Sophia is missing.

As the Wenn V. Deramas-directed series nears its end, one mysterious amulet will have the power to end all the harm affecting Galema’s family.

What will Galema do when two of her beloved get in the middle of her ultimate war against Zuma? In the end, will Galema realize her dream of giving her loved ones a complete and normal family?

“Galema: Anak ni Zuma,” which is based on the popular Pinoy comic book series written by Jim Fernandez, is a special offering of ABS-CBN – the true home of hit Pinoy classics – to afternoon TV viewers as part of the grand celebration of 60 years of Philippine television and the continuing tradition of sharing well-loved comic tales that widened the imagination of Filipinos and reflected Filipino culture.

Also featured in “Galema: Anak ni Zuma” are Sunshine Cruz, Sheryl Cruz, Carlos Morales, Divina Valencia, Lito Legaspi, Joey Paras, Dante Ponce, Bryan Santos, and Meg Imperial.

Sen. Cynthia Villar Wants to be First Lady, Says the Philippines will Prosper with Manny Villar's Strategy

Sen. Cynthia Villar is not gearing up for a higher government position, but how about her husband, former Senate President Manny Villar, who is rumored to be running for president again in the 2016 national elections?

Senators Cynthia Villar and Sonny Angara on TNT

“I am not sure, because sometimes things just happen even though you don’t do anything. We’re not closing our doors,” she says in “Tapatan Ni Tunying” airing this Thursday (March 13), citing her unplanned candidacy and victory in the 2013 senatorial elections.

If she becomes the First Lady, the country will prosper, she says.

“I think Manny’s strategy is to focus on economic growth. I think I can also do a lot to help him,” she claims.

Another Senate newbie, Sen. Sonny Angara also shares in a separate interview that he has no plans yet to run for a higher position.

“Being a senator doesn’t mean that it is easier for me to rise through the ranks. I have encountered difficulties, so I will stay here and try to do my best,” he explains.

When asked to rate his performance in the Senate after less than a year in service, he gives himself a score of 8.5 out of 10.

Sen. Angara adds, “For me, 8.5. It’s because I still want to challenge myself. Nobody is perfect, right?”

The two senators also open up on their personal lives and home in the episode.

Ikaw Lamang registered a 24.1% rating in Mega Manila, winning over rival Carmela which only got 22.1% and Kambal Sirena (23.6%) which somehow managed an overlap with the Kim-Coco teleserye with its hour-long pilot episode.

GMA-7's latest sirena-serye Kambal Sirena aired on the same timeslot as the ABS-CBN program Honesto and it also failed to beat the Kapamilya series. Honesto, which is now on its final week got 27.3% TV ratings in Mega Manila compared to 23.6% of its rival.

Meanwhile, Ikaw Lamang and Honesto were certified winners nationwide with wider TV ratings margin from rival programs. The ABS-CBN period drama had 27.4% national ratings while GMA-7's Carmela only got 16.1% ratings. Honesto (32.4%) also reigned over Kambal Sirena (18.1%) nationwide.

Next week, the primetime slot after the evening newscast will be occupied by two mermaid series namely, Mars Ravelo's Dyesebel (ABS-CBN) and Kambal Sirena (GMA-7). It is also interesting to know what show will win in this clash of mermaids.

Mega Manila TV ratings were provided by AGB-Nielsen while national TV ratings came from Kantar media/TNS.

N
akakaloka ang PMPC Star Awards for Movies na ginanap kagabi sa Solaire. niloko ako ng ilang members ng PMPC - pinaniwala ako that they will vote for my baby Jeorge Estregan for Best Actor for his sterling performance sa pelikulang Boy Golden. ganito kasi ang scenario - barely two weeks ago, some members talked to me at nagtanong kung hindi ko raw ba ila-lobby si Jeorge Estregan for Best Actor dahil ang kanilang napusuang rightful winner na si Joel Torre for the movie On The Job won't get the votes dahil hindi nila kayang magbayad sa voting members, i thought of something. kung hindi rin lang mananalo si joel torre who is the rightful winner, might as well fight na lang for my anak-anakang jeorge estregan for Boy Golden dahil they said that he is next in line for Best Actor. but how? i have to call first members of PMPC para makasiguro ako sa pagkapanalo ng alaga ko dahil PR man ako. that's part of the lobbying. normal lang iyon - kahit sa Oscar's sa America ay uso ang lobbying, di ba? i have to siyempre weigh first kung may laban ako. since 38 lang naman ang voting members, i have to get at least a vote more than half of them - meaning, more than 19 in short. so i commissioned 22 of them bago ako sumugal. huwag na nating pangalanan but worse come to worst ay willing ako to name names. promise! wala akong pakialam dahil lokohan pala ito. nagulat na lang ako nang malaman ko that one voting PMPC member nilang si francis simeon lobbied for Vice Ganda pala for Best Actor.. Nagbayad siya ng pera sa mga kasamahan niya sa PMPC para manalo so Vice Ganda who is abroad. mamatay na ang nagsisisnungaling. alam niyo naman ako, mayabang din at kalahati. nangutang ako sa isang friend ng pera para huwag lang madehado ang alaga ko kaya nagbayad ako ng mas higher. kaso, ang 3 members ng executive branch nila sa PMPC named Mel Navarro, Roldan Catro and Fernan de Guzman are for Vice Ganda dahil mas nauna sila naka-commit doon. at ang malungkot, ayaw nilang ipakita ang tunay na resulta ng botohan nila - itinatago nila. kasi nga, if I had 22 committed members, ilan na lang ang natitira sa kanila? 16? in short, i already have the numbers. kaya lang, since ayaw nilang ipakita ang tunay na resulta ng votes, nanalo si Vice Ganda dahil kontrolado nila ang results. i am an outsider of PMPC kaya i have all the right to lobby - since hindi naman pala mananalo ang righrful winner na si JOEL TORRE, might as well to fight for second best and that's joerge estregan dahil sila naman ang nagsabi. pero ang nag-lobby kay Vice Ganda for Best Actor ay VOTING MEMBER ng PMPC na si FRANCIS SIMEON. hindi ba sila nahiya noon? Nasaan ang delicadeza nila? bawal iyon sa members to campaign for a nominee, di ba? either he must abstain from voting for his ward dahil pangit talagang tingnan. ako? okay lang iyon dahil outsider ako and every PR MAN has the right to campaign or lobby for a client for whatever reason. nakakaloka lang dahil papaano nangyaring natalo ako when many of them committed with me for Jeorge Estregan. i personally spoke to many of them and they said yes. yung ibang nakausap ko who said na hindi sila maka-commit sa akin dahil nauna na raw silang pinakiusapan ni FRANCIS SIMEON for Vice Ganda (may bayad din po ito like what I did na pinangutang ko pa ha!) were rommel placente, mildred bacud, sandy es mariano, timmy basil, roldan castro (co-chairman ng Star Awards), among others. okay lang naman ang lobbying pag hindi ka member and i don't care kung magalit sila sa akin - nanggagago sila kasi eh. puwes, magkabukohan na tayo. VICE GANDA's winning was PAID. at lalaban ako sa isyung ito. yung ibang nabigyan ko ay nag-hunyango sa akin and ok lang iyon. magkakaalaman din kami in due time. hindi alam ni jeorge estregan ito dahil ipinangutang ko siya- sobrang mahal ko lang ang batang iyan dahil napakabait at mahusay talagang aktor kaya lang nabiktima kami ng DAGDAG-BAWAS gang sa LOOB MISMO NG PMPC. i am willing to talk at any convenient time at paninindigan ko ito at any given time at your convenience. NGAYON, NASAAN NA ANG TUNAY NA KREDIBILIDAD NG PMPC?

Hawak Kamay will be the comeback teleserye of Piolo Pascual after last year's Apoy Sa Dagat with Angelica Panganiban and Diether Ocampo. This will also be Iza Calzado's big return in primetime drama, following the successful teleserye Kahit Puso'y Masugatan which also starred Andi Eigenmann, Jake Cuenca and Gabby Concepcion.

According to reports, Piolo Pascual was the one who requested to be paired with Iza Calzado in this upcoming series, which is said to be directed by Ruel Bayani.

Iza has already worked with Piolo twice in movies, first in the highly-acclaimed Milan (with Claudine Barretto as female lead), and second on the mega blockbuster hit Starting Over Again, both helmed by award-winning director Olivia Lamasan.

Iza Calzado and Piolo Pascual, who both said they are very excited for their team up, already had a look test for the upcoming series. Aside from the two, Hawak Kamay will also star Nikki Gil and some newly-discovered talents.

Are you excited for this Piolo-Iza teleserye? Reports said the cameras will start rolling this March.
