Jobert Sucaldito Drops Bomb on PMPC Star Awards, Says Vice Ganda's Best Actor Trophy Paid

Entertainment columnist and radio personality Jobert Sucaldito took to social media to express his disappointment over the recently-concluded PMPC Star Awards for Movies and the award-giving body itself. According to Jobert, Vice Ganda's Best Actor trophy was paid.

akakaloka ang PMPC Star Awards for Movies na ginanap kagabi sa Solaire. niloko ako ng ilang members ng PMPC - pinaniwala ako that they will vote for my baby Jeorge Estregan for Best Actor for his sterling performance sa pelikulang Boy Golden. ganito kasi ang scenario - barely two weeks ago, some members talked to me at nagtanong kung hindi ko raw ba ila-lobby si Jeorge Estregan for Best Actor dahil ang kanilang napusuang rightful winner na si Joel Torre for the movie On The Job won't get the votes dahil hindi nila kayang magbayad sa voting members, i thought of something. kung hindi rin lang mananalo si joel torre who is the rightful winner, might as well fight na lang for my anak-anakang jeorge estregan for Boy Golden dahil they said that he is next in line for Best Actor. but how? i have to call first members of PMPC para makasiguro ako sa pagkapanalo ng alaga ko dahil PR man ako. that's part of the lobbying. normal lang iyon - kahit sa Oscar's sa America ay uso ang lobbying, di ba? i have to siyempre weigh first kung may laban ako. since 38 lang naman ang voting members, i have to get at least a vote more than half of them - meaning, more than 19 in short. so i commissioned 22 of them bago ako sumugal. huwag na nating pangalanan but worse come to worst ay willing ako to name names. promise! wala akong pakialam dahil lokohan pala ito. nagulat na lang ako nang malaman ko that one voting PMPC member nilang si francis simeon lobbied for Vice Ganda pala for Best Actor.. Nagbayad siya ng pera sa mga kasamahan niya sa PMPC para manalo so Vice Ganda who is abroad. mamatay na ang nagsisisnungaling. alam niyo naman ako, mayabang din at kalahati. nangutang ako sa isang friend ng pera para huwag lang madehado ang alaga ko kaya nagbayad ako ng mas higher. kaso, ang 3 members ng executive branch nila sa PMPC named Mel Navarro, Roldan Catro and Fernan de Guzman are for Vice Ganda dahil mas nauna sila naka-commit doon. at ang malungkot, ayaw nilang ipakita ang tunay na resulta ng botohan nila - itinatago nila. kasi nga, if I had 22 committed members, ilan na lang ang natitira sa kanila? 16? in short, i already have the numbers. kaya lang, since ayaw nilang ipakita ang tunay na resulta ng votes, nanalo si Vice Ganda dahil kontrolado nila ang results. i am an outsider of PMPC kaya i have all the right to lobby - since hindi naman pala mananalo ang righrful winner na si JOEL TORRE, might as well to fight for second best and that's joerge estregan dahil sila naman ang nagsabi. pero ang nag-lobby kay Vice Ganda for Best Actor ay VOTING MEMBER ng PMPC na si FRANCIS SIMEON. hindi ba sila nahiya noon? Nasaan ang delicadeza nila? bawal iyon sa members to campaign for a nominee, di ba? either he must abstain from voting for his ward dahil pangit talagang tingnan. ako? okay lang iyon dahil outsider ako and every PR MAN has the right to campaign or lobby for a client for whatever reason. nakakaloka lang dahil papaano nangyaring natalo ako when many of them committed with me for Jeorge Estregan. i personally spoke to many of them and they said yes. yung ibang nakausap ko who said na hindi sila maka-commit sa akin dahil nauna na raw silang pinakiusapan ni FRANCIS SIMEON for Vice Ganda (may bayad din po ito like what I did na pinangutang ko pa ha!) were rommel placente, mildred bacud, sandy es mariano, timmy basil, roldan castro (co-chairman ng Star Awards), among others. okay lang naman ang lobbying pag hindi ka member and i don't care kung magalit sila sa akin - nanggagago sila kasi eh. puwes, magkabukohan na tayo. VICE GANDA's winning was PAID. at lalaban ako sa isyung ito. yung ibang nabigyan ko ay nag-hunyango sa akin and ok lang iyon. magkakaalaman din kami in due time. hindi alam ni jeorge estregan ito dahil ipinangutang ko siya- sobrang mahal ko lang ang batang iyan dahil napakabait at mahusay talagang aktor kaya lang nabiktima kami ng DAGDAG-BAWAS gang sa LOOB MISMO NG PMPC. i am willing to talk at any convenient time at paninindigan ko ito at any given time at your convenience. Honesto Scores All-Time High TV Rating of 35.1%

ABS-CBN’s top-rating Primetime Bida drama series “Honesto” continues to capture the hearts of more TV viewers as it hit its newest all-time high national TV rating of 35.1%.

According to the data from Kantar Media last January 30 (Thursday ), the timely drama series that shares the value of honesty and kindness scored almost 20 points higher than its rival program in GMA “Adarna” which only got 15.2%. 

Meanwhile, the plot of “Honesto” continues to thicken now that it will soon be revealed that Diego (Paulo Avelino) is the real father of Honesto (Raikko Mateo). 

What will Diego do when he finds out that his former girlfriend Fina (Maricar Reyes) is already gone? Will he still be able to stop his father’s evil plans despite Hugo’s (Joel Torre) threat to hurt Honesto?

Coco Martin, Julia Montes, Nora Aunor Star in Padre de Familia Movie 2014

Superstar Nora Aunor will be working together with Coco Martin and Julia Montes in the upcoming film Padre de Familia (Padre de Pamilya). The movie, which is being shot on location in Malaysia, is directed by Adolf Alix Jr.

In Padre de Familia, Nora Aunor will be playing the troubled matriarch Aida while Coco Martin will be his son Noel who only wants the best for their family. Julia Montes is Pia who will have a big role in Noel's life. 

Padre de Pamilya will be the first time that Nora Aunor will be working with both Coco and Julia while the latter tandem has already topbilled their movie A Moment In Time last year.

Aside from Coco, Julia and Nora, the movie, features a dream cast of powerhouse actors including Rosanna Roces, Baron Geisler, Joel Torre, Joem Bascon, Miles Ocampo, Manuel Chua, Paolo Diangson and Ms. Anita Linda.

Paulo Avelino Wants Quality Time with Son, Family

Honesto star Paulo Avelino revealed that his only wish this Christmas is to have quality time with his family, especially his son.

“I miss my family so much. I really wish I could spend more quality time with them,” shared Paulo. “I’ll miss them more this Holiday season because I’ll just be here in Manila to work.”

However, Paulo remains joyful as he will still be in company with his ‘second family.’ “My Christmas will still be a happy one because I will be with my ‘Honesto’ family, especially with my son in the set, Raikko Mateo,” shared the award-winning actor about the cast of ABS-CBN’s top-rating Primetime Bida drama series.

Meanwhile, Paulo shared that TV viewers will surely be more thrilled with the thickening plot of “Honesto” now that his character Diego is starting to remember his past.

Kimmy Dora: Ang Kiyemeng Prequel Full Trailer (Video)

Check out the full trailer of Kimmy Dora: Ang Kiyemeng Prequel starring Sam Milby and Eugene Domingo as the twins Kimmy and Dora. The movie is an official entry to the 2013 Metro Manila Film Festival.

The film is the prequel and final installment of the Kimmy Dora film series. The kiyemeng prequel is set before the events of Kimmy Dora: Kambal sa Kiyeme wherein the twins are seen disputing the ownership of the family corporation.

Written and directed by Chris Martinez,  Kimmy Dora: Ang Kiyemeng Prequel also stars Ariel Ureta as the twins' father and Honesto couple, Angel Aquino and Joel Torre. It will open in theaters December 25. Watch the trailer below.

OTJ Bags Jury's Choice Award in 17th Puchon Filmfest in Korea; Joel Torre is Best Actor

After its well-received world premiere in the 66th Cannes International Film Festival in France, Filipino action-thriller “OTJ” (On The Job) won two major awards in the recently held 17th Puchon International Fantastic Film Fest in South Korea.

Co-produced by Star Cinema and Reality Entertainment, the Erik Matti masterpiece “OTJ” won jury’s choice, while one of its lead actors, Joel Torre, bagged the best actor trophy. Joel played as a middle-aged hired killer in the film.

OTJ Official Movie Poster Unveiled | Starring Gerald Anderson and Piolo Pascual

Star Cinema and Reality Entertainment has released the official movie poster of the action-drama film OTJ (On The Job) starring Piolo Pascual and Gerald Anderson. The film is one of Star Cinema's 20th anniversary presentations (watch the teaser trailer here).

Directed by Erik Matti, On The Job had a successful world premiere last May at Directors' Fortnight section of the prestigious Cannes International Film Festival in France, receiving a standing ovation. In OTJ, Piolo portrays an NBI agent running after a hitman played by Gerald. Shaina Magdayao plays the role of Piolo's wife.

Also starring Joel Torre, Joey Marquez, Angel Aquino, Empress, Leo Martinez, Michael de Mesa, Rayver Cruz and Vivian Velez, OTJ (On The Job) is coming in Philippine theaters this August 2013.

On The Job will also have a theatrical release in the United States in the last quarter of the year. Film distributor Well Go USA had acquired the North American rights to the film, according to a report on news website Indiewire. Aside from this, a Hollywood remake of the film starring A-listers is also being considered (read story here).

“Juan dela Cruz”  is Coco Martin's first take in an action drama-series which is one of the most anticipated teleseryes this year. ABS-CBN has unveiled the full trailer of Juan Dela Cruz, an action/fantasy series topbilled by Coco Martin and Erich Gonzales soon to be conquering Primetime Bida.

In the said teleserye, Coco will portray the title role, a Pinoy superhero bearing a holy cross that can shift into different weapons—a whip, a staff, an arrow, and a sword—who will battle the forces of evil. Erich Gonzales, meanwhile, will play Juan's love interest, Rosario.

Set for a release in the first quarter of 2013, Juan Dela Cruz also stars Albert Martinez, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Joel Torre, Gina Pareño, Louise Abuel, Lotlot de Leon, Neil Coleta, Arron Villaflor, Jaime Fabregas and Izzy Canillo.

Coco Martin is Pinoy Superhero Juan Dela Cruz (Teaser)

Coco Martin will portray the title role of a Pinoy superhero in the upcoming ABS-CBN action/fantasy series Juan Dela Cruz (John of the Cross).

In the said teleserye, Coco will portray the latest in the lineage of the "Tagapagbantay." Bearing a holy cross that can shift into different weapons—a whip, a staff, an arrow, and a sword—the 31-year-old actor's character will battle the forces of evil but will 

Juan, however has the aswang blood and he will mistakenly fall in love with Rosario, an aswang hunter played by Erich Gonzales. Mylene Dizon's character, Amelia, lays out the means to combat the aswang blood of Juan.

From the makers of the top-rating series Walang Hanggan and May Bukas Pa, the series also aims to impart values anchored on faith in God. Set for a release in the first quarter of 2013, Juan dela Cruz also stars Albert Martinez, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Joel Torre, Gina Pareño, Louise Abuel, Lotlot de Leon, Neil Coleta, Arron Villaflor, Jaime Fabregas and Izzy Canillo.

Erich Gonzales Reunites with Richard Somes in Mariposa Sa Hawla ng Gabi

After “Corazon: Ang Unang Aswang”, Erich Gonzales stars in another dark and gritty film by acclaimed director Richard Somes, “Mariposa Sa Hawla ng Gabi” that will be screened during the 2012 Cinema One Originals Festival.

Somes admitted that he loved Erich’s acting style, “I thought Erich really suited the lead character of Mariposa and I have already written the script to really suit her personality. The problem was, she became super busy because of her other commitments,” he said.

The director who has worked with Erich thrice was surprised when the seasoned actress informed him that she has received the script and felt ecstatic to do the film. “We talked and she agreed to adjust her schedule to make room for Mariposa,” Somes said.

In Mariposa, Erich will portray a ‘probinsiyana’ who ventures into the city to find her long lost sister. Somes said that this reunion would be fun and easy for both of them since he already knew what Erich is capable of. “Erich will portray a very challenging role here and very different from the ones she has done so far,” he said.

The director mentioned that in the film, Erich skinned a monitor lizard without any hint of fear and that she has some really amazing fight scenes without the help of a double. “You will really see a ‘kickass’ Erich in this film,” he said.

Likewise for Alfred Vargas who also stars in Mariposa. Somes said that Vargas prepared physically and mentally for this project, “Alfred has always been pictured as a kind and handsome corporate guy; very clean and gentlemanly. But here in Mariposa, he’ll portray a very different role; the characters here are dark, grim and gritty,” he said.

The film was set in 1994 in the gloomy side of Metro Manila. “Mariposa Sa Hawla ng Gabi” also stars Joel Torre, Mark Gil, Rez Cortes, Maria Isabel Lopez, Dennis Padilla and John Lapus who will also portray a shocking role.

“There are a lot of compelling scenes in Mariposa. Erich was very fantastic in portraying a really strong woman,” said Somes.

Gerald Anderson, a Killer in OTJ (On The Job) Movie with Piolo Pascual, Sports a Bad Boy Look

Gerald Anderson shed off his 'good boy' image for his upcoming action film OTJ (On The Job) with hunk actor Piolo Pascual. Gerald shaved the sides of his head and a portion of his right eyebrow for his role in the said movie.

In OTJ (On The Job), Gerald Anderson will be playing Daniel, an inmate who will turn into a hitman/professional killer. Meanwhile, Piolo Pascual plays the character of an NBI agent who will hunt Daniel. A son of an NBI chief and with a wife the daughter of a congressman, Piolo's character is torn between his duty, his conscience and his family.

In an interview with ABS-CBN news, both Gerald and Piolo shared their excitement for the movie which started shooting just recently.

"Sobra, sobra. That's what excites me yung iba ang role, iba ang character, iba ang script at kung paano kukunan. Iba yung set, may feeling ako na lahat magle-level up ," said Gerald who shared that his character  in OTJ is far from the usual roles he played in drama series.

"I'm happy because I never wanted to give it up. For the last three years I'd been trying to lobby for it and really fight for the project. Now it all fell into place with Gerald on board," Piolo said admitting that he is really excited to do the film with Gerald.

OTJ (On The Job), which is under Star Cinema will be directed by Erik Matti (Tiktik: The Aswang Chronices) and will also star Joey Marquez, Joel Torre, Angel Aquino, Rayver Cruz and Leo Martinez.

The restored version of the multi-awarded Filipino classic “Oro, Plata, Mata” by Peque Gallaga will open this year’s Cinema One Originals Film Festival on November 28 at the Robinson’s Galleria Movie World.

The screenplay of the 1982 film was written by Jose Javier Reyes with cinematography by acclaimed cinematographer Rody Lacap. The film was set in the Philippine province of Negros during World War II and tells the story of how two haciendero families cope with the changes brought by the war.

The film cast includes Cherie Gil, Sandy Andolong, Ronnie Lazaro, Joel Torre, Liza Lorena, Manny Ojeda, Mitch Valdes, Lorli Villanueva, Abbo dela Cruz, Kuh Ledesma, Manny Castaneda, and Mary Walter. It won the 1982 Gawad Urian awards for Best picture, direction, cinematography, production design, musical score, and sound. In the same year, it won the Luna Awards of the Film Academy of the Philippines for Production Design and for Best Supporting Actress (Liza Lorena).

“The script, by Jose Javier Reyes, is so thematically dense that a single interpretation is probably insufficient to discuss what the movie is really about. One could say, at the very least, that the film is about irrevocable change, how one can never really go back to happier times, once you’ve been touched by war. It’s about inevitable decay: gold, silver, death. It’s about the country, and how we’ve come to this point,” wrote Philbert Ortiz Dy in a review. “Oro, Plata, Mata has much to offer you. It’s the kind of film that gives you more and more to chew on the more you watch it. It’s an almost frighteningly rich film experience, one that shouldn’t be missed by any Filipino film devotee,” he added.

This marks the first showing of the restored version of the film. The restoration was made possible through a partnership between ABS-CBN Film Archives headed by Leo Katigbak and Central Digital Lab, Inc. It is the second film restored after Ishmael Bernal’s “Himala” in time for its 30th anniversary.

“Oro, Plata, Mata” is considered as Gallaga’s most significant contribution to Philippine cinema. Catch this timeless classic at the opening of the 8th Cinema One Originals this November 28 (Wednesday) at the Robinson’s Galleria Movie World. The festival’s opening event will start at 6:00 p.m.

The 2012 Cinema One Originals Festival will run from November 28 to December 9 at Robinson’s Galleria Movie World and from November 29 to December 4 at the Edsa Shangri-La Cineplex. The festival’s much awaited awards night will be held on December 3 at the Studio 1, ABS-CBN Main Building.

The 2012 Cinema One Originals Festival is an annual project of the Cinema One, the local movie channel on cable, owned and operated by Creative Programs, Inc (CPI).

Viva Films 'A Secret Affair' Uncut Trailer (Starring Anne Curtis, Derek Ramsay and Andi Eigenmann)

Andi Eigenmann, Derek Ramsay and Anne Curtis star in an intriguing love triangle movie from Viva Films, A Secret Affair. From the story and screenplay by Mel Mendoza-del Rosario, A Secret Affair is directed by Nuel Crisostomo Naval.

A Secret Affair will surely be another crowd drawer as the movie tackles a theme which is quite "in" nowadays. Not only that the movie features hot love scenes from the lead actors but the quotable quotes and lines by the characters will also add spice to its existing appeal.

Viva Films unveiled the official movie poster of A Secret Affair starring Anne Curtis, Derek Ramsay and Andi Eigenmann. The movie is showing on October 24, 2012.

Rafi (Anne Curtis) is happily committed to her lovely partner in life, Mark (Derek Ramsay). Regal Films' 'Pridyider' Uncut Trailer Released!

Regal Films has released an uncut trailer for the upcoming horror movie Pridyider, a full version of one of the three episodes in the original Shake, Rattle and Roll 28 years ago. Janice De Belen will return in this remake as the matriarch Mrs. Benitez.

Pridyider also stars Andi Eigenmann as Tina Benitez, JM De Guzman as James Dean Co, Joel Torre as Mr. Benitez, Ronnie Lazaro as Detective Albay, Bekimon as Agatha, Baron Geisler as Dick, and introducing Venus Raj as Celine in her very first film. Directed by Rico Maria Ilarde, Pridyider will hit theaters soon.

Here is the plot of Pridyider (2012):

Tina Benitez is a returning citizen. She’s been living abroad since childhood and she has not set foot in the country until now. She goes home to an empty house she inherited from her parents. Being sent abroad at such an early age, she does not have any memories of the house. But she cherishes it because it’s the only thing her deceased parents left her. However, strange things start to happen inside the house particularly in the kitchen where an old, antique refrigerator can be found. At first, Tina dismisses the incidents, thinking it’s just her imagination. But soon enough, she witnesses the ref attacking and even consuming one of her guests. Scared of what other harm the ref can do, she tries to get rid of it but to no avail. The refrigerator is unbelievably heavy. It cannot be lifted nor removed from its place. With some information from her neighbor and newfound friend Celine, Tina learns about the background of the refrigerator and its connection to her deceased parents. As Tina tries to solve the mystery of the refrigerator, she also learns more about her parents’ disappearance and death. Her childhood friend James also joins her in her quest for the truth. Together, they uncover Tina’s unknown past and also discover how to create a “bomb” that can counter the evil powers of the refrigerator. But will they succeed in defeating it? Someone from Tina’s past also unexpectedly shows up to help them. But will Tina be willing to risk the life of this person, just to extinguish the devil inside the ref?
